It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Samuel Ryan Todorovich, age 10, on February 24, 2024. Samuel was born on February 8, 2014, in Butte, MT, where he spent his life spreading joy and love to all who knew him. Samuel, affectionately known as Sam or Sammy, is the cherished son of Ryan and Lindsey Todorovich and brother of June and Bode Todorovich.
He attended Kings Kids Childcare and Preschool from age 5 months to 5 years old. He was a student at West Elementary School, where he made many friends and was known for his positivity, enthusiasm, humor, and above all, his kindness. Sam was a warmhearted friend who lifted people up by “filling their buckets.” Sam’s life was full of activities and interests that showcased his adventurous spirit and creative talents. He participated in Northwest Little League Baseball, Mining City Little Guy Football, Jiu Jitsu with Grit and was a member of the climbing team with Recreate. He loved hip hop and tumbling with Dynamic Dance and Montana Dance Works. He played YMCA soccer every summer. He worked hard to make it onto the Riptide swim team and was so excited to win the Teddy Bear Classic at age 8. Sam loved going to the YMCA afterschool program and summer camps. He relished the creative athletic competitions the counselors would put on and was so excited to start being a “Counselor in training.” He had fun doing summer camps with MT Tech basketball, Inspire football camp, ROCKIES, and Mile High soccer camps.
Sam excelled at art and especially loved drawing cartoons. His art was always displayed on the walls of the Todorovich family’s home and changed with every holiday. He was a member of the Young Musicians Club, where he had just started learning to play the saxophone. He also participated in the Orphan Girl Theater, playing Young Ernie Mac in the Puff’s play in 2023. Sam was very intelligent and worked very hard to make the Hall of Fame for West Elementary in the fall of 2023 as a 4th grader. Sam was an avid reader, enjoying funny books like “Dog Man,” comics such as “Wings of Fire,” and fantasy adventure series like “Percy Jackson,” “Harry Potter,” and “the Wingfeather Saga.”
His love for the outdoors was evident in his participation in Discovery’s Enhanced Skier Program, Learning to Race Team, and Advanced All Mountain Ski Team. He loved boating, wake surfing, knee boarding, inner tubing, and waterskiing. Rafting with his dad and kayaking with his mom on the Big Hole River were among his favorite activities, along with camping and hiking. Sam cherished his time going to Stodden Park, Ridge Waters, the Carousel, the Science Mine, the Butte Farmers Market, and Washoe Park. He loved skiing at Discovery and spending time with his family at Georgetown Lake. Sam looked forward to going on his family’s annual trip to Priest Lake with his family and friends. He and his family took incredible trips together to Hawaii, Arizona, Puerto Rico, Bryce and Zion National Parks and Las Vegas. He enjoyed shooting hoops and playing catch with his dad, and baking or doing crafts with his mom. Sam loved reading to his little brother Bode, playing video games and building legos with him. Sam and his older sister June were only 13 months apart. They shared a special bond and loved doing everything together.
A Celebration of Life for Sam will be held on Sunday, August 4th, from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Copper King Hotel. Friends, family, and all who knew Sam are warmly invited to join us in honoring his beautiful life.
The family asks you to kindly respond on www.rsvp.studio/Sammy by July 21st if possible. Those wishing to send personal messages, memories, or pictures to Sam’s family may do so via email at weloveyouSammyTodorovich@gmail.com. In honor of Sam’s memory, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the YMCA afterschool and summer program, because it held a special place in Sam’s heart. Though Sam’s time with us was far too short, his impact on our lives was immeasurable. He will be forever cherished, deeply missed and always remembered.
