Peggy Jean Drain
January 15, 1945 – January 18, 2024
Just after midnight on January 18, 2024, Peggy took her last breath. At her side was the love of her life and husband of 35 years, Robert. They were together as she approached death as they were in life, side by side.
Peggy came into this world on January 15, 1945. Her parents, Henry and Sue, started her off on her life’s journey that was filled with great joy and inevitable sorrow. Her father died when she was a young child leaving Peggy and Sue to face the world together. Peggy then and until her death found great love and solace in her church be it the Swedish Covenant Church, Gold Hill or Gloria Dei Lutheran Churches. She was in her element singing in the choir or making treats for coffee hour. She was a caregiver at heart. As an LPN at St. James, she provided care to the adored and difficult patients alike. She took pride in caring for her dogs and her beloved husband.
Peggy was preceded in death by her father and mother, Henry and Sue Youlten and her cousin Sally Anderson. She is survived by her husband, Robert, step-daughter Kerry (Mike), grandchildren William and Maxwell and cousin Shirley Elliot (Hank).
Celebration of life to be held once Butte, Montana starts to thaw to allow friends and family from out of town to join Robert for a proper farewell.

I’m so sorry to hear of Peggy’s passing. She loved helping with the snacks for the Vacation Bible School each summer. Plus the lunches for the camp counselors who worked with our campers. She was wonderful and she loved being around the children! We will you Peggy! God’s peace and comfort, Bob and family.

I worked with Peggy when I was a young nurse at St James. She taught me so much and was so nice to me! I would see her at Safeway over the years and we would visit. She never forgot to ask about my Mom, Joanne Green. I’m going to miss her!! She was an angel. Condolences to the family.
