Jack was born in Havre, Montana on February 29, 1952 to Robert Edgar and Alba Phillips Bugg. Jack was educated in Havre and graduated in 1970 from Havre High School. He spent many years playing baseball both in High School and later while in the service. After working a short time at BN railroad, Jack joined the U.S. Navy. He served from 1970-1978. He served on the USS Robert E Lee and as an instructor at the Nuclear Power Training Unit in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Jack was very proud of his time in the service.
After his discharge Jack left the Navy and moved to Dillon, MT to attend Western Montana College. He met his first wife, Barbara Colton in Dillon. They had one daughter, Stephanie, in 1988. They later divorced. He moved to Butte and worked for MSE-TA from 1979 as an operations department lead person and later as a shift supervisor until he had to retire early due to disabilities.
During this time Jack met his second wife Marilyn 1992. They married in 1995, and he helped to raise his three stepsons, Dave, Matt and Doug Pederson. He loved family life and being involved in the kids’ activities. They had many years together enjoying the outdoors hunting, fishing and exploring Montana’s back roads. He loved to work on cars in his early ears and did a lot of hot-rodding and some racing. He also learned to be an avid hockey fan watching his stepsons play hockey.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Alba. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Bugg; daughter, Stephanie (Jon) Fleming; grandsons, Julian and Braedon of Lincoln Nebraska; Stepsons, Dave Pederson of Helena, MT, Matt and Doug Pederson of Butte; sister, Martha Dell Jurek (Rich) and niece Kelly Jurek of Chicago, Illinois.
