Dale Glenn Beauchamp, our sweet Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather went to meet his Heavenly Father on Father’s Day, June 16, 2024. Anyone that knew Dale always found him calm and collected, confident and gentle, as well as patient and strong. He was an encourager and uplifted everyone that he met and his acceptance and love for everyone made them feel special. All those traits were exemplified even in his last moments. In the eyes of his family, he was 10’ tall and bullet proof, our earthly hero! His faithfulness to the Lord, his wisdom, courage and patience paved the way to make our family and those he met better.
Dale was born January 21, 1935 in Keystone, Nebraska to Harold and Floy Beauchamp. He grew up on the ranch in the sandhills attending a one room schoolhouse where he was head and shoulders taller than the other kids, reaching his full height by 8th grade. He worked the ranch with his Dad while completing High School and entered the Army National Guard in December of 1952, serving as a Sergeant until his honorable discharge in 1958. While living in Ogallala, Dale and Darlene met when attending the same church. Darlene and her friend decided to go to Omaha and attend Grace Bible Institute, which was 300 miles from home, but Dale decided it was good idea to follow her and go as well! They married that summer, in 1954 before starting school. While attending classes he also worked in a food factory and packing house. Dale and Darlene returned home to Ogallala to the ranch in a couple years and there he also worked as a police officer. He was told his brother and his friend liked to drag race and that he was expected to ticket him if he saw him. He indeed did see a couple drag racers and ticketed them, the Mayor’s son and Police Chief’s son! Eventually, he was told it was probably a good idea to leave his position, as there was a lot of pressure to dismiss him! After the birth of his son Duane in Omaha, Dale took a ranching position in Wood Lake, Nebraska, one of the 3 properties owned that covered over 50,000 acres. Dale and Darlene welcomed their second child, Dalene, while living there. They were also working closely with a Village Missionary (Bill & Ruth Easterling) in church planting and the two families moved to Hillside Colorado to start a church and Dale worked at Trails End Ranch, a Registered Hereford Ranch and State Game Preserve, for the next 6 years. Their third child, Darrell joined the family while living there. In 1965, Darlene’s sister Doris, lured them to Montana to Yellowstone Boys Ranch where Dale then worked as the Ag Manager for two years. Deciding he wanted a better ranching environment for his family as they grew up, he accepted a ranch manager job for Trapper Creek Ranch in Melrose, Montana and that is where he raised his family for the next 12 years. He loved working the ranch and working with the neighboring ranchers in the Vipond Grazing Association. He created many fond memories and relationships while there and welcomed many friends and nieces and nephews to our home and treated them as one of the family. He worked closely with Rocky Mountain Bible Mission and Westland Bible Mission in church building and camp ministries including Clark Canyon Bible Camp and continued to serve on the mission board until his passing. Dale and Darlene looking toward the future, decided to purchase a house in Dillon and Dale took a job with Dillon Implement in 1979, where he continued to work with area ranchers doing field mechanics and making deliveries around the state, eventually opening his own shop doing small machine repairs before purchasing Larry Bradley’s grain truck. Dale would haul grain around the state for the next several years and moved to Butte in 1996 where he could deliver grain nightly and be home with his wife and aging mother. He eventually sold his truck and worked part time for the State Highway Department doing winter snow removal and for GCR tires hauling huge mining equipment tires to mines, working into his late 70’s while also continuing to work with Westland Bible Mission and Butte Evangelical Church. Recently, Dale and Darlene returned to Dillon to be close to family, grandkids, and great grandkids and he continued to enjoy his woodworking and leatherworking.
Dale’s character and wisdom continued to touch all around him in the last few years as he strived to make everyone’s day better, including a host of healthcare professionals as he faced several health issues over the last few months. His family is very grateful for the care he was given and for the many comments received from those who knew him and the impact he had on them.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Darlene Beauchamp; his children; Duane (Berta) Beauchamp, Dalene (Lee) Hahnkamp, and Darrell (Shareece) Beauchamp, Grandchildren Jessica Taylor, Mandy Hahnkamp, Darcy (Matt) Schuetz, Erica (Chris) Buck, Cassie (Rich) Taylor, Samantha (JR) Davis, and Charlee (Matt) Reed, and 17 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews that he considered his own children as well. Dale was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Harold & Floy Beauchamp, Gary Beauchamp, Mary Beauchamp, and Helen Powell and great grandchild Rooster Schuetz.
