William (Bill) H. McKee
Born 15 September 1937, and after a life well lived, Bill’s journey ended 14 December 2025.
And quite a journey it was. Taking just three years to graduate from high school, it was on to the University of Oregon for a degree in education. A degree that allowed Bill to fulfill his life’s passions, teaching and travel.
Bill’s started his career as an English teacher at a private school in Washington D.C. Then, except for one year in Whitefish, Montana, Bill took his talent to teach abroad. First Nernberg, Germany, then save for a year in Benghazi, Libya, thirty plus years teaching at American schools in London, Bangkok, and Valencia Venezuela.
In forty years plus of teaching, his favorite moments came as chaperone for school sponsored student trips from London to India for visits to the Taj Mahal. After two around the world trips, one on a tramp steamer, and, also, riding the length of the Siberian railroad plus travel throughout South America, he claimed the Taj Mahal as his favorite visit.
Bill retired to Bangkok and continued his travels until health issues brought him back to the states where he lived with a brother in Oak Harbor, Washington for a few years and then moved to Deer Lodge, Montana to live with another brother.
Despite declining health and near total loss of vision, Bill was still able to pursue another passion… amassing quantities of quarters playing pinochle with family members at four-bits a game, two-bits a set. He leaves several pounds of quarters to a nephew.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Leona McKee as well as anolder brother Jack.
He is survived by two brothers, Ben and Jim of Deer Lodge and a handful of nephews and nieces.
Axelson Funeral & Cremations is privileged to care for Bill and his family.
