Willard Bert Brothers of Butte, Montana, was born in Basin Montana, October 12, 1938. On May 2, 2020, He passed on to join his mother, Martha Thompson Brothers, father, Charles Bert Brothers, sister, Cleo, and nephew, Joseph.
Bert, or Bud, as his family knew him, attended school in Basin, MT, before moving with the family to Butte. He graduated form Butte High School. He served in the U.S. Army, and later worked as a hoist operator in the mines. He graduated college at MT Tech, also attending Western MT College and MSU. He earned a degree in teaching and taught school in Anaconda.
Bud’s great love was art. His drawings of nature, animals (both natural and cartoonish), and humans (both natural and cartoonish) could always bring a smile.
Bud is survived by his sister, Ione (Vernon, dec.) Schaller; nieces, Ione, Terri, Carla, Jill, Tracy, and Marti, along with their spouses and offspring; and nephews, Buzz, Charles, Jerry, and Tedd, along with their spouses and offspring.
Bud will be missed for his sense of humor, love of telling a good, long story, and the enthusiasm he put into any interest.
Bud was laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park with his parents, Martha and Charles, during a private, family service. In honor of Bud, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
