Our family laid to rest one of Butte’s true sons on a day filled with sunshine and Irish music. Tim Clark dedicated his life to his family and the people of Butte. He was born to Blodwen and John “Jack” Clark, and with his brother and sisters had a childhood filled with family and friends on Dakota Street. He attended St. Joseph’s Elementary and Butte High School and graduated from Eastern Montana College with a degree in Education. Tim had a lifelong love of sports, played varsity basketball, and always desired to be a sportswriter. He loved studying history and had an eclectic collection of music and books.
His professional career started with Model Cities, Butte City Government, and he was a participant in the Butte and Silver Bow County Consolidation Planning Commission. Tim was appointed as Butte-Silver Bow’s first Personnel Director in 1977 and created the department he led for 40+ years. During his tenure he held positions in numerous State Labor Boards including SWIB Council of Commissioners and League of Cities and Towns. He also led many community organizations including HRDC, United Way, Salvation Army, Butte YMCA, and SHRM.
He was most proud of his work as a member and President of Butte Celebrations. Tim worked year-round to assist the group in producing amazing Fourth of July celebrations that included fireworks, and brought in parade floats, marching bands to Butte from all over the US and Canada. The Butte Freedom Festival and Children’s Halloween Parade were his creations, and the group successfully organized Butte’s St. Patrick’s Day events.
Throughout his tireless efforts for Butte, family always came first. Tim and his wife Lynn have a beautiful, blended family that include his Children: Shaye Clark, Tim and Kimberly Clark, Amy and Robby Gunderson, Rachel Clark, and Melissa and Brian Demarais. Grandchildren: Hunter and Chloe Clark, Payton and Jager Gunderson, and Max, Bo and Mylee Demarais. He is also survived by his sisters Elissa and Tom Mitchell, Leslie Clark, brother Jack and Barbara Clark, mother in law Doris Eurick, brothers in law Glenn Eurick and Ken and Marla Eurick, and sister in law Debbie Eurick. He loved his many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Blodwen, Grandmother Kate Clark, Aunt Megan and Ray Robbins, Uncle Bill and Julie Clark, special cousin Oakie O’ Connor, father in law Carl Eurick, and brother in law Neil Eurick.
Tim was laid to rest next to his parents at Holy Cross Cemetery in Butte, Montana.

As a reporter for The Standard, Tim’s office was my first stop of the day to see what was happening in the courthouse. If I’d ask a pointed question, Tim would stare at me as if to say, “Good question, you’re on point, but I cannot answer that!” He’d smile at it too. He was always very helpful and most likely Chief Executive Don People’s gatekeeper to what was happening in in the city. Thanks for helping me in my career. God bless and rest.

I am so sorry for your lose, Tim was such a good guy he always did his job with what was best for Bute. We were on the opposite side of many negotiations but he was always truthful and a man of integrity. Butte will miss him.

Lynn,
Our prayers are with you and your family. I always considered Tim as a good friend beginning at an early age at St. Joe’s grade school and continuing through our close ties with the Silver Bow Government. We spent many hours hammering-out many labor contracts over the course of three decades. Tim was a person who carefully measured every word spoken. He was a person well respected by all who worked with him. I feel honored to have known Tim. God Bless his soul!!!!

So sorry to hear about Tim. I have known Tim since 1966 when we were students at Eastern Montana College in Billings. We were roommates in 67-68. Over the years we stayed in contact. He was truly a great friend.
