To Rita & Ian. I am sad for the loss of Tom.. we go way back. Our whole family is heartbroken. What a great guy! I would like to keep it short but don’t think I can.
Rita, Dad & Mom always considered you & Tom as a daughter & son. You were always part of the family at the house & we had many great adventures. Me, I always considered Tom as a big brother & have many memories.
Way back in the 70’s, we all remember the great times with Tom, fishing & hunting.. especially in that big new “SUV” you guys had. I also remember being at your house when I was in high school & with your objection Tom would let me have a couple of beers 🙂
My fondest memory is 2 camping trips through the Horse Prairie to Reservoir Lake like 2 days before everybody else showed up. Tom would make be blow up the air mattress, ( which was a new thing back then, ), in the tent because I was young & had the ability to do so. Also, at the lake he would always throw your dog Tinker in the water from like a 10 ft cliff & the dog would always swim back.
I remember him going to the Antarctica on an expedition as a plumber for a long period of time & after showing pictures, I was in awe!
I could keep going but won’t… he had a huge influence in my life & I’m sure my siblings as well. Always a good person & we’ll miss him. May God bless Tom & the rest of your family. 🥲

Rita and Ian, Cara and I are so sorry for your loss of Tom. My memories of Tom go back to our childhood, through grade school, high school and also attending college at Western at the same time. Tom was always a great sparring partner when it came to our politics. Tom never backed down and always stood strong in his political beliefs, his belief in God and in his views of life, traits that I always admired in him. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during these difficult times.

I have lots of memories of us growing up in Dillon. Going to school together playing up the blacktail building forts just being kids. So sorry that Tom was unable to attend the class reunion, I know how badly he wanted to. Prayers go out to you.

I grew up with Tom, many memories of sledding in the winter and roommates in Missoula where he met Rita, he also built me a home when I had cancer in 2004 and would not let me pay him, my current home is a legacy to his talent, he lived with us for a season when he was working in Bozeman, and we had many conversations about our youth and times together, he wanted so bad to stay alive for the reunion, makes me so sad that he was only a week away, I take a lesson from this, live your life now!!!!!

Rita, what a great guy Tom was. Ed and I are very thankful our boys had Tom as a coach. His compassion along with his toughness was a perfect combination. He will be missed by many. May your memories bring you comfort and peace.

    Rita and Ian,
I’m so sorry for your loss and all who loved him. I was always fond of my cousin, Tom, and have such wonderful memories of our days growing up together. Several years ago, he gave me a back scratcher he had been working on in his shop class. I now look upon it as being even more special to me than it was when he presented to me. My deepest condolences to you and yours. Susan
