In Memory Of

Stephen “Steve” John Holloway, Age 66, of Butte

August 17, 1959 – October 26, 2025

Stephen “Steve” John Holloway was born on August 17, 1959, in Butte, Montana, to Robert and Marion Holloway. After the passing of his mother when he was a baby, his father later married Irma Holloway, who lovingly helped raise him.

Steve spent his childhood in several Montana towns, including Great Falls, Whitehall, and Butte. He graduated from Whitehall High School, where he met his first wife, Joy Adams-Koepke. Together they had two children, Josh Holloway and August Holloway, whom he loved and cherished deeply.

In 1979, Steve began his career at the Montana Developmental Center (MDC) in Boulder, where he worked as an occupational and physical therapy aide. He retired from MDC after many years of dedicated service. During his time there, he met the love of his life, Melinda Holloway. They were married on June 27, 1996. Melinda brought two children into their marriage, Aimee Shadow and Michael Schalder, whom Steve welcomed and loved as his own.

Steve believed in treating people the way they treated him. He enjoyed the outdoors—hunting, fishing, and later in life, riding his Harley until he no longer could. He also cherished quiet times at home with Melinda, his constant companion and best friend.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Marion, his stepmother Irma, his eldest brother Tim, his son Josh, his stepson Michael, his brother-in-law Dale, and his special friend Carrie.

He is survived by his beloved wife Melinda; his daughter August; his stepdaughter Aimee; grandchildren Alex, Holsten, Tallas; Kyia-Jo (Chase), Zane, and Meranda; and great-grandchildren Sophia-Grace and Ellena. He is also survived by his brother Terry (Pat) Holloway; his sisters Ann (John) Mealy and Robin Pfeiffenberger-Agnew; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and dear friends.

Steve will be remembered for his loyalty, humor, and kindness, and for the love he shared with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who know him.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held in the spring of 2026. Details and announcements will be shared on Facebook as the date approaches.
