Sharon was born on May 24, 1940, in Butte, MT to Marguerite and Russell Skedd. She lived a life filled with love, kindness, and dedication. Sharon worked as a cashier for more than 40 years; first with Skaggs, then Osco, and finally with CVS. She was known to many as the picture lady, as she helped so many print pictures.
Beyond her work, she cherished her years being involved with the First Presbyterian Church. Here she married Melville “Tacker” Hoar on August 1, 1959, had her children baptized, taught Sunday School, was a deacon, witnessed several family members’ weddings, and – probably her most cherished involvement – the Handbell Choir, where she performed as a member for almost 50 years.
Sharon is also well known for working alongside her husband, children, and grandchildren as the matriarch of Mel’s Fireworks Stands. She and Tacker started selling Fireworks in 1967 and continued selling for 45 years.
A fond memory she loved to share was her time in the Butte High School Marching Band. She played the clarinet and was able to travel to many places, including the highlight of marching the Rose Bowl Parade.
She is survived by a large loving family – her daughter Susan Crowley; sons and Daughter-in-Laws, Gary (Kelly) Hoar, Larry Hoar, Bob (Kerrie) Hoar, Todd (Meredith LaFond) Hoar; grand-children, John Crowley, Marcus (Kelly) Crowley, Chad (Kristy) Hoar, Erik (Sarah) Hoar, Kelsie (Craig) Williams, L.J Hoar, Emily Hoar, Sammi Hoar, Kayla (Jesse) Mosher, Kendra (Justin) Brown, Elly Richards, Louis LaFond-Hoar, Iver LaFond-Hoar; great-grandchildren, Tatum Crowley, Kaylee and Kyler Hoar, William and Harper Hoar, Kellen, Kynley and Tymber Willams, Melvin and Timmy Hoar, Millie and Wade Mosher, Lawson and Maya Brown; her sisters, Patty (Mike) Haggerty, Vicki (John) Evens, Cindy (Doug) Witmer; many other relatives such as cousins, nieces, nephews and others too many to mention here.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Mel “Tacker” Hoar; her parents, Russell and Marguerite Skedd (Givogre); stepfather, Victor Givogre; twin sister, Shirley Fredrickson; granddaughters, Rachel Hoar and Sara Crowley; grandson, Jared Hoar; nephews, Dennis and Shane Haggerty; and special friend, Jack Crowley.
