On July 22nd Sharon passed away at home with family by her side after losing a battle with colorectal cancer. Sharon was born to Swante (Swanie) and Irene Saari on July 5th, 1950, in Butte, Montana. She graduated from Butte High School and attended vocational school to become a certified nursing assistant (CNA).
Initially Sharon wanted to become a registered nurse but she began working as a certified nursing assistant in the late 1970’s and found out that she had a deep passion for helping and taking care of the elderly so she continued as a CNA and home health assistant until the early 2000’s. Her patients brought her great joy and they became like family. Sharon was forced to retire due to a back injury at work but that did not stop her from wanting to continue her passion for helping and caring for others. In the early 2000’s Sharon moved back to her hometown of Butte, Montana, to take care of her ailing parents.
Sharon enjoyed spending time with her children (Chad, Melissa, Jon, Lindsay, and Tommi Lynn) and had many favorite activities. Reading the Bible, attending Bible study, and praying for people was especially important. She also read books of all kinds, wrote letters, spent time knitting, cleaning her home, cooking, listening to all sorts of music, working on crossword puzzles, coloring, and drinking coffee.
Sharon is survived by her children: Chad Monroe of Casper, Wyoming; Jon and Lindsey McCullar of Casper, Wyoming; Lindsay and Jason Stafford of Houston, Texas; and Tommi Lynn Banks of Butte. Her grandchildren are Corbin, Kaden, and MacKenzie Monroe; Ashlyn McMaekin; Savannah Morrow; Shaylene and Maggie Connolly; and Jaxson and River McCullar. Madeline Ann Morrow is her only great grandchild.
Sharon was preceded in death by her Father Swante Saari, Mother Irene Stucke, and brother Gregory Saari all of Butte, Montana; daughter Melissa Monroe Connolly, grandson Brenton McCullar, and best friend/sister Carol Ziegler all of Douglas, Wyoming; and numerous cousins.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held on September 5th, 2020, at the family home, 1913 Porter Avenue, Butte, Montana.
Cards and memorials may be sent to Tommi Banks, 1913 Porter Avenue, Butte, Montana 59701.
