In Memory Of

Roy Charles Fritz, 71, Butte, MT

May 24, 1948 – January 1, 2020

Roy Charles Fritz

May 24, 1948 – January 1, 2020

Roy Charles Fritz was born in Silver Creek, New York on May 24, 1948.  He passed away from a sudden heart attack on January 1, 2020 at his home in Butte, Mt.

Roy lived a full and interesting life.  He is known for being a hard worker and worked for a good portion of his life in the asphalt profession, either as a rock-crusher operator or an asphalt plant operator.

He was proud to have served in the US Army and Army National Guard.  A headstone will be placed at the Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison, Helena, Montana.

He loved being outside and living with nature.  For the last few years, since his retirement in 2012, he spent most of his time at his cabin in the northern Idaho wilderness.  He had a “McGyver” gene and could fix or manufacture just about anything for any situation. This definitely served him well thorough out his life, and in his chosen lifestyle.  He put his whole heart into creating an “off-the-grid” lifestyle.  It was his dream; and he achieved it.

He spent the last couple of months “off-the-mountain” with family and friends for the holidays.

He will be missed for his corny jokes and far-fetched ideas. He was the best storyteller and wrote many, many stories and poems. It gave him great joy to share them with those he loved, and really, anyone that would take the time to read them.

Roy was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Fritz, his mother, Kathryn Schultz, his grandmother, Merle Mills and his beloved daughter, Challise Fritz.

He is survived by sister, Terry Fritz, six sons, Justin, Steven, Joshua, Kenneth, Bryce, and Timothy, and by two daughters, Aubrey and Ariana, and nieces that he loved as his own, Tabitha, DyAnna, Heather and Vivian. He had eight grandchildren that he adored. ‘

Please see below to offer the family a condolence or to share a memory of Roy. Axelson Funeral and Cremation Services has been privileged to care for Roy and his family.
