Rick passed away peacefully after battling a long illness. Rick was born in Butte MT, spent most of his youth in California. He served 3 years Active duty in the Marines before returning to Butte for most of his adulthood. Rick was adventurous, driving for miles to find a good fishing spot or climbing Yosemite’s Half Dome-stepping out on a small ledge for a photo op.
He was a hard worker; taking jobs most of us would never consider. For instance, while working for Davey Tree he would climb to the top of the tall Redwoods. He also spent several weeks out on the Bering Sea crab fishing. He ran his own small business Handy Man Lawn Services and loved every bit of it, helping people make their lawns as beautiful as they can be. He took so much pride in his work.
Lastly, he was kind and generous. If you were lucky enough to have Rick as a friend, you knew he always had your back. If you fell upon bad times, he would share his last dollar with you. He will be greatly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia; sister, Debra; canine companion, Bear.
He is survived by his father, Richard Sr.; brothers, Wes (Denise), Donnie, TJ, Eric, and Ryan; sister, Michelle; and furry best friend, Billy Bong; many nieces, nephews, and cousins—too many to name but you know who you are.
Ricks’ family would like to extend their gratitude to the Copper Ridge wing 200 nurses and CAN’s for caring for our loved one. Also, Enhabit Hospice for making Rick’s final days comfortable. A special thank you to Marcia for all she has done for our family.
Service of Honors will be held at Mountain View Cemetery on January 24th, 2025, at 10am with a reception following at the East Side Athletic Club. Please come join us in celebrating Ricky!
