Patricia Louise Carlson peacefully slipped away on September 18th, after impatiently waiting seven years to be reunited with the love of her life.
Pat was born on January 19, 1927 in Painesdale, Michigan to Emmett and Margaret Andrene. She often spoke of her train ride at the age of ten when she and her younger siblings traveled from Michigan to Butte to join her father in their new home. Pat went on to attend Greeley grade school and Butte High School. She graduated from Butte Business College and then worked at Metals Bank and Trust Company before meeting her husband. Sparks flew one fateful Christmas Eve when a bank teller and a young sailor, Earl Fredrick Carlson met for the first time on a blind date.
Pat and Earl married on October 21, 1950 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. They were devoted to each other and happily celebrated over 62 years of marriage before Earl’s passing on September 25, 2012. She was a dedicated homemaker and mother of six lively children.
Pat was also preceded in death by son and daughter-in-law Dan and Alice Carlson, her parents Emmett and Margaret (Crowley) Andrene, sister and brother-in-law Dolores and Max Weathers, and brother Bob Andrene. Also preceding her were her brother-in-law, Ed and sisters-in-law Eva and Elizabeth and her father- and mother-in-law, Fredrick and Anna (Kastman) Carlson. Her beloved granddaughter Andrea Carlson also preceded her in death.
Pat is survived by four sons and their families and one daughter and son-in-law: Steve and Ann, Bob and Cindy, Dave, Jim and Donna, and Sandra and Joel Cook. She also leaves her grandchildren and their spouses including John (Patti Alderson) Carlson, Heather (Brandon) O’Connell, Nathaniel Carlson, Seth (An-g) Carlson, Jim (Heather) Rowland, Darin (Sarah) Rowland, Mikael (Kevin) Olson, Jeffery Carlson, Joshua (Holley) Carlson, Kylee Cook, and Makenzie (Blake) Buchert, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Also surviving are sister and brother-in-law Margie and Tom Yorath and sister-in-law Eileen Andrene, and niece, Dianne (Mark) Evankovich and many other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Her family will cherish memories of a generous, funny, caring, tough, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, auntie, and sister-in-law. Her deep and abiding love for and pride in her family was a shining beacon. She was sustained by her deep faith in God and the Catholic church.
The family wishes to thank the staff at The Springs and Frontier Home Health and Hospice for their kindness and care in the last days of Pat’s life. Other special caregivers include Kathy Holmes, Bonnie Dalton and Josie Flores.
A memorial Mass will be held Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Patrick Beretta officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be held at the KC Hall. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Mariah’s Challenge, the Butte Emergency Food Bank or Butte Central Education Foundation.
Friends of Patricia Louise Carlson may call on Thursday, September 26, 2019 after 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m.
