September 28, 1950 – August 5, 2019

After a long, hard fought battle with cancer it is with heavy hearts, the family of Pat Lynn Rickey mourn his passing.  Pat was born to Phyllis and Oral Rickey, September 28, 1950 in Walkerville, MT.  He was proud to be a part of the Walkerville connection.  He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing with family, friends, and grandchildren.  Pat also played guitar every Wednesday night with the “secret old man Bluegrass Circle”.  The “Circle” created life-long friendships among the players and their families.  Pat attended Sherman School and graduated from Butte High in 1969.  He was self-taught on many subjects and was an avid reader.  He was always ready and able to help friends and family whenever he could.  He was a karate instructor at one time.  He worked at Pioneer Concrete in his younger years.  He married the love of his life, Dawn Vivian Whitlock on August 13, 1987.  Their daughter, Brittaney was born on December 25, 1987 and ended up being the feisty baby of the family.  Together, Pat and Dawn raised their four children, Jeremey, Rachel, Brittaney, and Tiffany.  Pat is survived by his wife, Dawn, daughter, Brittaney Alt (Derek); son, Jeremey Whitlock (Cara); daughter, Rachel Pederson (Paul); daughter Tiffany Forster (Jim); grandchildren Tucker, Trey, Reid, and Libbi, Ryer, Bridger, Elizabeth, Zach, Angel; brother, Cliff Rickey and family; sister, Sue Powers, stepmother-in-law, Dee Vivian; brother-in-law Tom Vivian (Sandy); sisters-in-law Bobbie Painter (Jim)j, Mary Ann Kerns (Mike); brother-in-law Bill Boggs and family.  Pat is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.   He is preceded in death by his parents, Phyllis and Oral Rickey; sister, Carlette Rickey; brother, Shawn Rickey; half-brother, Glenn Christansen; cousins, Bill and Joann Tonkin; mother and father-in-law, Pearle and Bob Vivian and sister-in-law, Betty Boggs.

The family thanks Dr. Hueffle and staff, all the family and friends that came to visit and help, and Highlands Hospice and staff.

Celebration of Pat’s life will be held at the McQueen Club on Thursday, August 8 at 4 p.m. with Father Brian Miller officiating.  A reception will be held immediately following the service.   In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Highlands Hospice or Shriners Hospitals.

“Love you to bits!”

Please leave a condolence for the family or share a memory of Pat.

Dear Dawn and kids, I remember Pat coming to pick up your mom for lunch at Herberger’s, especially in the early days when we had an hour. Your dad always participated in any Herberger’s picnic or Christmas party. You could see how much your mom and dad loved each other. I know you have some great family memories. My prayers are with you. Some day it won’t hurt so much when you think about your husband, father and friend
