Nancy Ann DeHart peacefully took her last breath in the early morning of February 7, 2023, in her home surrounded by those that loved, adored, and cherished her.
Born on a blistery cold day of April 26, 1950 to James “Tiny” McDevitt and Ann Helen McDevitt, Nancy faced many challenging obstacles from pre- mature birth, life challenges, and many health issues that she miraculously beat. Nancy graduated high school from Girls Butte Central and immediately pursued a career as the Ward Secretary at St. James. She was also a pivotable key player in the successful bargaining of the Union contract at St. James, to which she walked proud on that picket line. Union blood ran in her family.
On December 10, 1983, Nancy gave birth to her first-born son, Daniel DeHart. She instilled her union beliefs into him from day one to which he later in life became a Union President. On August 30, 1985, Nancy gave birth to her second son, and baby, Shane DeHart. Nancy adored her boys and did everything in her power as a single mother raising two boys in the 1980’s and 90’s in Butte, MT of all places. She definitely belonged and ran the “BEST MOM EVER” organization. She always joked that her, GOD, and grandma raised her boys. She made sure they had the best she could give them. Her genuine heart and soul were full when she got to live out the last 2 years of her life living with her family and doing family oriented trips and activities.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, aunts, cousins, and close best friends. She is survived by her children Daniel and Joselyn DeHart, and Shane DeHart; grandchildren Dalton DeHart and Taylor Shultz, Nicole and Cael Davis, Jailyn Hocking, James Hocking, Breindel Hocking, and Taylor Hessler; siblings Kay and Gene Harlow, Owen and Linda McDevitt, James and Theron McDevitt, and Martin and Pam McDevitt; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many others.
Mom, you are the salt of the earth. Thank you for the Memories. LITE IT UP!
As per Nancy’s requests, she has been cremated and there will be NO FUNERAL SERVICES. Nancy asks that if you want to pay respects, please donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, as she loved children and no child should suffer, or to the Salvation Army, as she had a heart of gold and loved helping people as much as she could.

Good-Bye to our neighbor on Elm Street.
Good-bye to our neighbor on Elm Street.
I remember Nancy coming to our house to visit my brother Joe when he was a toddler. She was about five years old and dressed in cute little dresses. She was so kind and loving as a child and carried those values into her adult life and passed them to her sons.
We send love and prayers to all of you. God bless you and give you courage at this sad time.
