In Memory Of

Mitchell “Mitch” Daem, Age 62, of Butte

April 13, 1958 – February 25, 2021

Mitchell “Mitch” Paul Daem passed away on February 25, 2021 at St. James Health Center in Butte Montana, after a short battle with cancer.

Mitch was born on April 13, 1958 at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings Montana to Albert and Joy Natalie (Clawson) Daem. He was their fourth child and first boy. Mitchell was extremely proud of his Belgian heritage.

Mitch graduated High School in Custer Montana in 1976. After high school, Mitch received training at General Motors School of Instruction-Mechanics in Minneapolis and May School of Broadcasting in Billings Montana. Mitch served in the U.S. Army from 1987-1989 and was stationed in Hawaii. Mitch’s employment consisted mainly of jobs in retail sales and tire service. Most recently, he was disabled.

Mitch enjoyed searching for agates in the riverbeds of the Yellowstone River, searching for buried bottles in the hills around Custer, playing pool, horse shoes and darts. He also enjoyed skiing and reading. Mitch was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan since he was in junior high school. In 2019, Mitch had the great privilege to attend a Chiefs’ game in Kansas City with his son, Nathan.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Dawn Stuber-Daem of Butte, son Nathan of Billings, daughter Meagan of Butte and son Justin of Billings. Sisters, Karen (Tom) of Glasgow and Alberta (Tom) of Davenport Washington. His grandchildren: Malachi, Natalyne, Albert, Wynter and Tatianna. His mother-in-law, Irene Stuber; his brother-in-laws; Scott (Sherri) Stuber of Anaconda and Kevin (Teri) Stuber of Butte.

Besides his parents Albert and Joy, he is preceded in death by his sister Vicky and his brother Guy; his son Michael and his father-in-law Donald Stuber.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life gathering will be conducted in the Spring.

My prayers are with you and your family. I knew Nathan many years ago. I babysat his kids when he was a single father. He was a gentle soul. Take care of you and remember everyone grieves in their own way. Give yourself grace. I lost my husband to stupid cancer in October of last year. You will get through this.
