Marlene Rhea Kent left us be with her loved ones in heaven on June 2, 2022. She was born Marlene Rhea Galahan, in Butte, Montana on October 19, 1937, to parents Walter Harrison Galahan and Eunice Starin. Marlene was the second oldest of seven children. Shirley Mae Johnson (deceased) , Patricia Ann James (deceased), Bonnie Lee Johnson (Butte), William John Galahan (deceased), Tanya Marie Sgrenci (Bigfork), and Matthew Thomas Ferlic (Missoula).
Marlene attended Webster Garfield elementary school, and Butte High. She married James Kenneth Kent in the family home at 708 South Main, on Christmas Eve 1955. Their son James Kenneth Kent Jr. was welcomed on June 9, 1959 , in Buffalo , Wyoming. Their second son, John G Kent, came into the world on May 11, 1962, in Castro Valley, CA. Marlene was a very devoted mother, as well as a doting grandmother to Valenteyn, Neqelle, and Sheridan . Welcomed into the family were Celty, Jordan and Zeb. In addition, her great-grandchildren are —James, Ivy and Mason. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. Very special to Marlene were sister-in-law Debbie Galahan and cousin Sharlene Johns. Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, James Kent, her son Jimmy, and her grandson Travis.
Marlene was our 4’11 firecracker. She was an adventure lover! Her and her family lived in Montana, Wyoming, California, Utah and Colorado. She enjoyed exploring each state, and loved to travlel anywhere. Marlene was equally as comfortable in a large city as she was in a small cabin in the Montana woods. She enjoyed her horses and donkeys in California. But her passion seemed to be anything with an engine. She had fun on the dunebuggy in the mountains, loved driving her Hondas to states around the country, and drove her snowmobile in Yellowstone park. Her favorite was her cool souped up Ford LTD. She and her children, sisters and brothers had a lot of fun on trips in that vehicle.
Marlene will be dearly missed by us all. She will be buried in Colorado next to her dear husband and son. We will have a memorial celebration of life for Marlene this summer. Services organized privately by family.
