Mark Lee Snow “Snowman”, 67, passed away on July 21st, 2025. Born on July 18th, 1958, Mark was beloved and respected by those who knew him and he touched the lives of many people through his humility, humor, and kindness.
Mark was taught from an early age to work hard and do things right the first time. This ethic served him well throughout his career working for the State of Montana’s Department of Transportation. Mark was passionate about building the best highways for the taxpayers of Montana, and his dedication to this ideal earned him promotions and an award from the governor for outstanding service to the state.
One of Mark’s great passions in life was restoring classic cars and motorcycles. On countless days one could find Mark under a car either in front of his house or in his garage in Anaconda. Snowman could fix anything, even if it meant taking it completely apart and welding it back together. No component was ever too far gone to try to restore for Mark, and he was able to reassemble many engines that most mechanics wouldn’t touch.
Mark’s other great passion was his grandsons. He would dote on them and spoil them, never saying no to just about anything they asked. The kids loved Grandpa Mark as he showed genuine interest in their activities and favorite things. Much like with his own son, Mark encouraged the grandkids to go to college and contributed financially generously to this end. Both grandsons currently have plans to attend university, and Mark helped make this dream come true for them.
Mark is survived by his son Cory, who desperately misses his hero, his grandsons Desmond and Liam, and his father Lee.

I had the pleasure of working with Mark at MDT in the Butte District materials lab. Mark was an such as hard worker with a passion for his job. He always took the time to share a in conversation and enjoy a laugh in his shy style. He always made me feel welcome in his work family which consisted of the bonded materials team. My thoughts are with Mark’s family, friends and co-workers as I know he will be greatly missed.
Till we meet again Mark, your kindness will always be remembered.
