Marilyn Maxwell Malesich passed away on December 22, 2025, at the age of 76. She was born on June 30, 1949, to Thomas and Reva Maxwell and was the youngest of seven children.
Marilyn grew up on Edwards Street in Butte, where she spent her childhood playing in the neighborhood, at Father Sheehan Park, attending Whittier School, and going to the LDS church. She spent many hours at her parents’ business, M&L Supply, and in the car traveling to Salt Lake City to visit family. After graduating from Butte High School, she attended Brigham Young University for a few years before returning home. She later married Fred Malesich, and although they later divorced, together they raised three children. Marilyn devoted herself to making sure her children were always cared for, comfortable, and loved.
As her children grew, Marilyn returned to the family business full time. She also worked at Herberger’s and later with School District No. 1 in the lunch program, staying active even after retirement.
Marilyn enjoyed camping, attending rodeos to watch her daughter compete, and spending time at family reunions. In the last ten years of her life, thanks to her caring and compassionate partner, Ben, she was able to travel to Europe, Mexico, and many places across the United States, along with good friends, Marty and Dana.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her youngest son, Brent; her parents, Thomas and Reva Maxwell; her sister Beverly Harpster and husband Harry; her brothers Lowell Maxwell, Paul Maxwell and wife Jeanie, and Tommy Maxwell; and many beloved pets.
She is survived by her partner, Ben Arms, and her cherished dog Emmy; her daughter Dana Turner and husband Gary; her son Jim Malesich and wife Janet; her son in law Stuart Tenney; her brother Dave Maxwell; her sister Margaret McIntosh and husband Scott; her sister in law Wilma Maxwell; her grandchildren Trevor Shearer and wife Lakin, Noelle Keeney and husband Jesse, and Josh Keltz and wife Allie; and five great grandchildren.
Marilyn lived a life built on showing up, doing the work, and loving her people without hesitation. Her legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, and all who were lucky enough to know her.
Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1351 Mount Highland Drive, Butte, Montana. Visitation will begin at 10am. A reception will follow at the Copper King Hotel in the banquet rooms at the North entrance of the hotel.
