Lorraine Schweitzer, 94, passed away the morning of April 22, 2022 at St. James Healthcare while surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 17, 1927 in Havre, Montana where she was raised on a farm that was close to the Canadian border.
Mom met the love of her life, Frank, at a dance and they were married for 65 years. This marriage resulted in 2 daughters, Ann Marie, who passed away at birth, and Wanda.
Mom and Dad lived in Havre and Cut Bank before making their long time home in Denton, MT where Dad was a self-employed carpenter and Mom was his “head bookkeeper”.
In 1973, they made a move to Reno, NV, where mom loved to tend to her garden and found her artistic painting talents. She painted many beautiful pictures which are treasured by her family. She was also very involved in her Catholic Church community and made many close friends in her 40 years living there.
Mom loved to play cards and dice. When she moved into Big Sky Senior Living in Butte after Dad’s death she became the “ring master” of several ladies and many games of cards and dice were played!
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents, Guy and Theresa Nelson; her sister, Helena Madsen, her brother, Bill Nelson; and her daughter, Ann Marie.
Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Wanda (Henry) Hislop of Butte; Grandson, Mark (Jennifer) Hislop of Butte, Granddaughter, Michelle (Travis) Post of Hamilton, and Granddaughter, Amy (Chris) Kanne of Littleton, CO; and niece, Merla Hamilton of Lloyd, MT. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Andrew Kanne; Dain, Reyna and Blake Post; and Kody and Dylan Lane.
Lorraine was interred at Mountain View Cemetery in Butte, Montana. Please visit below to offer the family a condolence or to share a memory of Lorraine.

Wanda, I am so sorry I’m hearing of your Mom’s death. What a great picture you’ve shared. It took me back to Denton and our family across the street. I most remember peanut butter toast and cinnamon and sugar. My Mom wouldn’t do that. I also remember at your kitchen door outside all thr “chicken and hen’s ” succulents
That we could not touch. All things have changed and all of our parents have gone, and it appears that many houses have burned, but they will come back. Praying for your family and thinking good thoughts of Lorraine. Miss them all. Chris Browne
