Lois Kathryn “Kay’ (Mitton) Weaver, of Drummond, passed away at 8 am on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the Granite County Long Term Care in Philipsburg, MT of natural causes.
Kay was born in Missoula, MT January, 8, 1941. She was the eldest daughter of Patricia (Livingston) and Reed Mitton.
Kay graduated from Drummond High School in 1959. She attended Kinman Business University in Spokane for a year before returning to Drummond.
On September 2, 1961 she married Emmett “Sam” Weaver at the Mormon church in New Chicago. They welcomed their only child, Emmett Lynn, in 1962.
During her younger years she worked at Drummond Drug. She owned and operated, with her husband, Loren’s market from 1969 to 1982. She also managed the state liquor store and the Star Motel all in Drummond.
What a talented woman she was! Enjoying painting, stain glass sewing, ceramics, faceting stones and shopping.
Over the years she participated in several organizations. She was a member of the Lower Valley Historical Society, Deer Lodge Art Club and the Sew Crafties.
Kay is preceded in death by both her parents. Her sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Lonnie Palin. Brothers-in-law Howard Clute; Bud, George and Johnny Weaver. Sisters-in-law Elizabeth Clute; Jackie, Audrey and Barbara Weaver. Nephews H.J. and Tommy Clute.
Kay is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Sam; son and daughter-in-law, Emmett Lynn and Stephanie of Drummond. Grandson Sam McGowan of Hall; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be July 30, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Valley Cemetery, New Chicago, MT.
