Laurens Richard “Larry” Tuxill, age 87, of Butte, Montana, passed away on February 2nd, 2023.
Larry was born to Alfred Raymond and Lena Margaret (Fuller) Tuxill on June 15th, 1935, in Port Huron, Michigan. They moved soon after, and Larry grew up between Rexford and Eureka, Montana, then moved to Butte to attend the Montana School of Mines (now Montana Tech). During his few years there, he met the love of his life, Kathleen Ferriter. They were married on May 3rd, 1955, in Helena, Montana, and spent all of their years together until she passed on October 14th, 2022.
Larry and Kathleen had their first daughter in Butte, before moving around between several different states including California and Nevada, while welcoming 4 more children. Once their children had been raised, they continued to explore different places across the country, and spent several years snow birding in Arizona, living in their 5th wheel while visiting family and friends during warmer weather.
Larry had many talents and interests. He worked as a banker, a logger, a financial advisor, and a motel manager. He spent his time playing cards, shooting pool, bowling, fishing, camping, dancing, and singing—he had a beautiful singing voice. His goal was to visit all 50 states, and he made it to 49 of them with his beautiful wife by his side.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, all of his in-laws, all of his siblings, and his grandson, Jacob Liedle.
He is survived by his children; Laureleen “Laurie” (Gary) Goddard, Laurens Jr. “Rick” (Bev) Tuxill, Diane (Terry) Hayward, Michelle (Dave) Liedle, and Tara (Tim) Holland; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
