Landon D. Lewis, 85, of Butte, Montana, passed away June 26, 2022. He was born on August 19, 1936, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota to Arthur and Effie (Longtine) Lewis. He grew up on his family’s farm outside of Lake Park, MN. He met Carolyn Huntley while roller skating. They married July 1, 1961, at Strandvik Lutheran Church, and would have celebrated their 61st anniversary.
Lanny worked with grandpa and uncles as a carpenter. He also worked for Nelson Construction in Fargo, ND. He eventually chose to work for the USDA as a federal meat inspector. Carolyn and Lanny moved to Billings, MT in 1967 and then to Butte, MT in 1970 for his job. As a consolation to moving to Butte, he let Carolyn pick their house (a decision he occasionally regretted.)
Lanny’s favorite hobby was antiquing. He spent many years working with antiques, whether making great finds at garage sales or taking painted, broken furniture and giving it new life repaired and refinished. He and Carolyn, and eventually son, Dan, spent many years as antique dealers at The Antique Shop and antique shows. His granddaughters will continue to appreciate the many treasures they received from him through the years.
Landon is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Lenore; son, Daniel; daughter Mary (Kenneth) Lague; granddaughters Gwendolyn and Brynn Lague; brother, Jerry (Susan); nephews, Brandon Lewis & Kyle (Mikaela) Lewis. Lanny’s family would like to thank his amazing home health therapists and hospice nurses.
Graveside services will take place at Strandvik Cemetery in Minnesota at a later date. Memorials may be made in his memory to the Chloe Lai Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Billings Catholic Schools Foundation.

Bob Arnold says
First meet the Lewis family in 1972 when starting out in the antiques business. Ate many meals at their large kitchen table. Watched the 4th of July parade in 1973 from the roof of their antiques shop on North Montana. Over the years I would get together with Lanny, Caroline and Danny at the antique shows. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who need it. Lanny never lost his sense of humor, although dry it may have been.
