Karl (Curly) Muniz passed away peacefully with his wife of 42 yrs by his side. Karl was born in Murray, UT, March 7, 1956, to Nicanor & Illa Muniz.
He came to Butte as a child and attended local schools. He graduated with an associate degree in Electricity & Electronics in 1977 from Butte Vo Tech. Curly worked for MSE until his lay off and then went to work for the Butte School District. He retired from here due to health problems.
His greatest passion in life was being in his boat with friends, fishing on the Big Hole River. He loved being out on the rivers – anyone that knew him can attest to that.
Karl is survived, and will be greatly missed, by his wife, Janice; father, Nicanor (Celia) Muniz; siblings, Nick (Cheryl) Muniz, Vicki (Larry) Krause, Joann (Dave) Rodda, Don (Carol) Rice; stepbrother, Kelly (Melanie) Esquibel; sister-in-law, Joanne (Tim) Jacobson; brothers-in-law, Bill Seaman, & Robert “Buzz” Clark; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, wonderful friends & fishing buddies – all that he loved so much.
He was preceded in death by his beautiful mother, Illa Muniz; siblings, Danny Shotter, Linda (Tom) Larsen; sister-in-law, Sharon Pierce Baker; fishing buddies, Dan “Dano” Williams & Jeff Rayman; & so many friends that went before him.
Special thank you to: the staff in ICU at St James Hospital for taking such wonderful care of Curly during his final days; the doctors & staff at the Cancer Center of Butte (Dr Massau, Jossette Uland) for being so nice to him; Jackson Marez & Roy Muniz for all your help around the house and for being with him when he needed you the last few months…You guys are awesome.
No services will be held at this time. Next Spring, when the fires are not going we will take him to the Big Hole and release his ashes. Details are not finalized.
Thank you, Curly, for loving me and taking care of me for the last 42 years. Until we can be together again, I will hold your memories close to my heart. I love you today, tomorrow, and forever. Rest in peace, babe. – Jan
