Justin Stiles Clark, 46, of Butte, Montana, passed away at his home on September 29, 2025.
Born on November 28, 1978, in Lubbock, Texas, Justin was the beloved son of Kathy Clark and the late Richard W. Clark. He grew up with strong values of integrity, service, and compassion—principles that guided his life and career.
A proud graduate of Texas A&M University, Justin was a member of the Corps of Cadets, Company H-1 “Raiders,” and earned dual degrees in biochemistry and genetics. He went on to attend the University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio, where he earned his medical degree in 2006.
Justin’s lifelong commitment to service led him to a distinguished career in the United States Navy Medical Corps. Commissioned as an Ensign in 2002 under the Navy Health Professions Scholarship Program, he rose through the ranks to Commander in 2019. His service included assignments at naval hospitals in Bremerton, Okinawa, San Diego, and Camp Pendleton, as well as a deployment to the NATO Trauma Hospital in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Following his active-duty service, Justin continued to serve in the Navy Reserves and worked as a Diagnostic Radiologist at St. James Hospital in Butte.
Justin cherished his sons, Finley and Nels, who were the center of his world. Together they shared countless adventures outdoors—hiking, camping, and exploring the Montana wilderness. His devotion to his boys, his family, his patients, and his colleagues was unwavering.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sons, Finley and Nels; his mother, Kathy Clark; and his sister, Amy Blake.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard W. Clark.

Justin was one of the warmest, kindest men I had the pleasure of knowing. Such an incredible gentleman, he always had a kind word for everyone, and was so incredibly devoted to his boys. He is deeply missed.

I remember when Justin was accepted into A&M and how proud Richard, Kathy, and Amy were for him. As Amy’s friend, he was her little brother who was going to do great things, and he did. Kathy, Amy, and to his sons, I am deeply sorry for your loss. This has been such a hard year for you all. Sending all of my love and prayers.

My deep condolences to Justin’s family. Justin and I became roommates in the summer of ’19 where we both enjoyed the gorgeous beaches San Diego County had to offer. We were quickly challenged by the arrival of the pandemic that would sweep the nation after the end of the year. During this time period we concocted a load of adventures to entertain ourselves. We went on a few wild hikes on the East side of San Diego County known for its desert terrain. One place was called “Hell Hole Canyon” and it lives up to that name. It was over 100 F by mid morning and you literally are walking down into a canyon. We pretty much got lost in the maze for about 6 hours before we hiked out of that hole.
We had some great food adventures also. Restaurants were offering take out and cocktails to go during the pandemic. We’d hit up some of the local taco shops around every so often and take our food and drinks out on the beach. Nothing like sipping a margarita on the beach with a savory taco bursting of rich marinated flavors. Another strange occurrence happened that summer. An algae bloom took over the ocean and at night it would illuminate a glistening blue hue (fun jeopardy fact the blue hue is caused by the release of cyanotoxins from the algae). I suppose we got a free side show with our dinner for a few months.
Justin AKA Clark, you were truly a great friend and I will always cherish our goofy times during the pandemic.
Sincerely,
Justin La

Ty was so touched when Justin brought him a buckle from TEXAS A&M as a student. He truly knew how to make others feel special and must have been an amazing doctor. Blessings Amy and Kathy as you journey!

I’ve never met Justin, but I had the gift of meeting his beautiful sister, Amy just a few days before he died. The sisterly love and compassion from Amy was like nothing I’ve ever seen before. May Justin be at peace in all his brilliant light.
