Joseph “Joe’ Allen Franklin, age 38, of Butte, passed away on January 9, 2024. His father, Michael, passed away when he was rather young. When Joe was 12 the family moved to Montana, settling in the Darby / Hamilton area. Joe loved it there. In 2023 Joe graduated from Darby High School where he received a baseball scholarship from Dawson Community College in Glendive, Montana. After a couple of years of playing baseball, he was drafted by the Texas Rangers, unseen! How cool was that! Unfortunately, a torn rotator cuff from a fall on campus would put a kabash on his baseball dreams.
Shortly after that, Joe joined the JATC, Montana’s Electrician Apprenticeship program. After 5 long years of education and on the job training, Joe graduated as a journeyman electrician. Joe worked for several companies that allowed him to travel all over the state as well as into the Dakotas, making lifelong friends that he was proud of.
Joe’s world and heart grew bigger when he and Jenny welcomed their daughter, Skye Lynn.
Joe is survived by his mother, Teresa Diamond Franklin; Pappy, Jim Corbett; daughter, Skye Lynn; Skye’s mother, Jenny; his brother and sister-in-law, Louis, Sara, and their children; grandma, Theodora Diamond (the boys called her Grandma Ducks); uncles, Ted Budner, John, and Tommy Frangesh, and Auntie Janet. Joe is also survived by many cousins, including cousin Evan.
Joe is preceded in death by his father Michael.

Joe,
What can I say we were supposed to take over the world. I guess I have to do it for the both of us. You were so many peoples knight in shiny truck. When anyone needed help u was almist always first one there to help. When u had ur home it was open to the ones that needed somewhere safe to go. Which I’m sure for most was a blessing. For me we shared a bond that could t be broken. We got annoyed with each other a lot but it was just cause I told u like it was and u didn’t like hearing what u needed to hear sometimes but I always apologized after u let it sink in. You were the only person I actually went to the hospital to see. My dad didn’t even get that. So damn right u will truly be missed and never forgotten. U wasnt 1 of a million u were 1 in a million god broke the mold with u. Glad to have known ya and I’ll see u again when the time is right. Until then ur memory will live on in all of our hearts. Hope we make u proud.
