I fist met Jim at Entech, he was my mentor in Natural Gas Trading. Never met a nicer, smarter, or hard working man than Jim. He loved this wife and two girls more than anything else. I cherish the memories he told me about his Alaskan smoke jumping days, his love for the outdoors, fishing and saving a buck. I am sorry to hear Jim has passed, you can’t replace a man like Jim.

Jim had a way about him that made him a most unique character. I worked with Jim my entire career. His sense of humor was second to none. For example I remember once giving him a floppy disc (for those of you who remember what they were) and rather than ask me if it was formatted he said “is this thing ready to rumble?” He loved to talk about his wood stove, and cutting wood, and splitting wood, and anything wood. He said going into the forest and getting wood like was picking up free money. No one could put together a gas trading deal better than Jim. We retired around the same time and he seemed to just disappear into the mountains but I would see his hand painted camouflaged truck once in a while that told me he was still around. My condolences to his family and friends. He will surely be missed by all who knew him. RIP Jim.

I never met a person with as much enthusiasm, as much passion for life as Jim Griffin. It didn’t matter the situation. A few minutes with Jim brightened the rest of your day. Jim loved his work, and his enthusiasm was contagious. It was my privilege to work with Jim for the better part of 10 years, and I was the beneficiary of his knowledge and his positive attitude. I chuckled at the reference to his being an “ecstatic grampa”. That painted a touching image that I will carry forever in my heart. While he will be missed by so many, heaven is brighter place since Jim’s arrival.
