James Arlis Mayes, “Big Jim”, “The Breeze” “Dad”, “Pa”, “PaPa” “The man from the Mountain” The man wore a lot of hats and filled them well.
He fought a long and courageous fight with cancer. Never letting it stop him from living his life to the fullest. He was determined to see his granddaughter and grandson graduate and did as their biggest cheerleader. Jim always flew a flag honoring home and country.
Born in Taylorville, Illinois August 15, 1944 to Jim and Bessie Mayes. Married Gail Haywood and started a family. Fought in the Vietnam War and carried it with him.
Traveled the states extensively and settled down in Montana where he reunited and married Sheila Boggs. Loved fishing, football (The Bears) music but most of all his family.
Survivors of this great man are, Sheila Boggs Mayes spouse, Sons (Jimmer Mayes), Chicago Illinois, (Paul Mayes) Butte, Montana, (Jim and Kim) Butte, Montana. Daughters (Barbara Mayes) Chicago Illinois, (Cathy “Moe” and Steve Goodwin) Butte, Montana.
Grandchildren: (Jesse Mayes), (Daniel Mayes), (Nathan Mayes) of Chicago, Illinois (Ravyn, Jess, Shenae Goodwin), (Brittney Mayes) of Butte, Montana.
Great Grandchildren: (Jesse Mayes Jr), (Brooklyn Mayes) Chicago Illinois and (Adalynn Mayes) Butte Montana.
Jim is preceded in death by His Mom Bessie, Father Jim, Sister Becky, Brothers Jeff and Bobby Mayes. Now reunited with his clan. Fly high my Pa “TCB”
Services will be held Friday December 10, 2021 11:00 A.M. Springs Community Center 300 Mt Highland Drive Butte, Montana.
