In Memory Of

Holly Ann Layne, Age 46, of Butte, Montana

November 5, 1976 – March 24, 2023

Holly was born November 5th, 1976 to Sharon Layne in Butte MT. She was raised with the help of her grandparents Kay and Ernest Layne who doted on her as if she were their own. She could do no wrong in their eyes. Holly was more than a daughter, a granddaughter, niece or a cousin, she was the heart of the family.

She was a ray of sunshine and those that knew her were lucky enough to bask in her glow.  Holly was full of life and laughter and shared that with those she loved by giving them special nicknames.  Many people knew Holly by her own special nickname of Rosie.

Holly overcame the expectations of her limitations and graduated from Butte High School.  Holly then went on to work with Mountain View Social Development Center and with BSW.  Holly made many lifelong friendships through these ventures that she cherished deeply. She was also a proud member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church and enjoyed attending services.

Holly had many passions in life such as music and animals, but her true passion was reading.  Holly had more books than one person could read in a lifetime. She loved spending her Saturday evenings playing uno and skip-bo with her BSW friends.

Holly’s love for her family was unconditional. She shared a special bond with her uncle Bill who she fondly referred to as Chiffon and talked with daily.  She loved spending time with her cousins and sharing all of the things she loved when she was young with them.

She will be deeply missed.  We love you Holly and we are all so proud of you.

Holly was preceded in death by her mother Sharon, grandparents Ernest and Kay Layne, uncles Ernie, Ed (Mary), Rick (Maddy), and Tom; aunts Anna (Buck) and Tina Layne; as well as her furry friends Cujo, Daisy, Raven, Tippy and Tally.

Holly is survived by her uncle Bill Layne, cousins Heather Layne, Malinda Layne, Jessica (Nick) Petritz, Billie Jo Layne, Madalynn Layne, Paige Layne, Ezekiel and Emmilenne Carpenter, Frank Layne and Jason Layne. As well as many special friends.

Graveside Service will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, March 31st at Mount Moriah Cemetery, 2415 S Montana St., Butte, MT, with a celebration of life to follow at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1621 Thornton Ave., Butte, MT, 59701. To honor Holly please wear your best lime green or any bright color.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Shriner’s hospital in Holly’s name.

Holly, I will forever miss you; your laughter, smile, jokes we played on people, telling me stories about what you were reading and you working on your word search books and most of all – watching Family Affair. Thank you for being you and always looking at the bright things in life… As we always used to say to each other, “Let’s act up!” I will carry on with this until we can “Act up together again.” Always in my heart 💜, Debbie

My little Holly dollie, this is where she would say to me Hello Breezy! & I would have to comment back how are you sneezey? And she would chuckle and laugh. We spent our lives together basically like sisters instead of cousins. We had so many happy memories in our time here and they will never be forgotten. We had so many ‘Firsts’ together and will be hard not having you here for anymore. I know my grandchildren loved you as much as i have. Emmie and Zeke love and miss you as well as Paige and I. Love you Holly say Hello to Nannie, poopsie, Tom, Rick, Ed, Ernie, and your mom for me xxxooo

Holly (Rosie) was a ray of sunshine to everyone! She was always so happy and excited to see everyone with her big smile and hugs. When we were young, and she went to Longfellow she was always so excited when we were outside together, or she would see me in the hallway. I remember later in life when she decided she didn’t want to be called Rosie she would always say to me my name is Holly. I would laugh and tell her you will always be Rosie to me girl I don’t know you as Holly, and she would laugh. She will truly be missed! Sending prayers to you all! I hope you find comfort in knowing she is now with the ones she has missed so much. Sending my love and sympathy.
