Helen Elich was born in Butte and spent the majority of her life on the East side of town on Ohio St. Her parents were Joseph Elich and Martha Cacich Elich. Helen attended Grant School, then went on to graduate from Butte High. On April 4, 1948, she married James Ronco. They had three children, Jeri, Jim and Jill. After the kids were all in school Helen started her career with Safeway on Park St, then spent the end of her grocery checker career at the Safeway on Front St. opening the store very early in the morning. On days off Helen would camp and fish with her family. After retirement, she would still get up before the sun and wait for her paper to work on the word puzzles. She also enjoyed gardening, reading and cooking feasts for her family.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Jeri (Jake) Hart, and son, Jim (Faye) Ronco; her grandchildren, James (Tina) Clay, Jason (Dayla) Hart, Chas Ronco Pitcher, and JJ (Roshanda) Ronco; great grandchildren, Montana Clay, Grace Clay, Noah Clay, Brennan Hart, Gianna Hart, and Jaymee Ronco; and her great, great granddaughter, Brynlee Clay.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Martha Elich; her husband, James Ronco; her brothers, Joseph Elich and John Elich; sister, Madeline Elich Neilson; and daughter, Jill Ronco Clay.
The family would like to thank extended family members, Rosie and Ron Granberg, and Aurelee Stanisich, for their devotion to Helen. Also, Helen’s one in million friend, Joyce Murie.
