Grandpa Wally, I wish we would have had more time together. Life dealt us both some strange cards. But One of the happiest days of my life was when I met you for the first time. I am proud to be your granddaughter. You were full of love, laughter, amazing stories, and passionate opinions. You had a green thumb and anything that came from your kitchen was always perfect. You loved me and your great grandchildren and I will always get a lot of strength from knowing that. I love you more than this mortal world allowed me to show. I know some part of you is with me forever, and I hope you rest peacefully with my dad now. I love you so much. I will sign this from me, Brooke T. Schroeder (Benoit) and my kids; Loreal, Philip, Karis, and Pierce. But Loreal and Philip will also write you their own notes. ❤️🌊🌻

My Dear Great-grandfather Wally,
The few memories we share are forever engrained in my heart. You meant a lot to me, and you MEAN a lot to me- in ways I can’t properly describe. I regret that we didn’t have more time together but what we had was enough for you to show us you cared and how happy you were to be in our lives. You had a green thumb and a soft spot for animals. I remember one time when I was a little kid… Philip and I spent all day helping you plant tomato seeds in your beautiful garden. You told us stories from your youth and played songs on your guitar. That day, I went home- proud of myself, and proud of you. I realized that I was really happy to have you for a great grandfather. I still am. We’ll all see each other again someday. I love you and may you rest in peace.
-Loreal
