Ethan Edward Laur, 25, of Butte Montana, passed away at St. James Hospital on April 2nd, 2021.
Ethan was born in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, on April 1, 1996. He attended Sault Area High School and graduated in 2014. In high school, Ethan was active in Cross Country, First Robotics, Upward Bound, and was dual enrolled at Lake Superior State University starting at age 15. Ethan was a highly intelligent and driven individual who didn’t recognize limits. He accomplished many things that he was very proud of such as being sought out by Google for a job interview while still in high school, making the varsity Cross Country team as a freshman, and mastering difficult computer programming languages mostly on his own.
After graduating High school, Ethan moved to Seattle, Washington and worked as a software engineer until starting his own company, Ipseity Software. He spent the last three years working on mobile application development and was very proud of the automation and security features he had created. On February 14, 2017, he married his wife Alma and they moved to Butte, Montana. Ethan and Alma have two children, Emma and Misha, who he loved deeply and was extremely proud of.
Ethan was a fast runner, brilliant computer programmer, and gave everything he did his best. Ethan had an eccentric sense of humor; from proclaiming himself the Time Person of the Year on his resume as an ice breaker, or creating a sign appointing himself Employee of the Month (runner up) of his own company. He loved exploring new places, and tinkering with mechanical and electrical systems, was a self-taught DIY car mechanic, and dabbled in 3D printing, even selling some of the printed products.
Ethan is survived by his wife, Alma Laur, his children, Emma and Misha Laur, Mother and Step-father, Johanna and Kurt Bunker, Father and Step-mother, Edward and Lisa Shedlock, siblings, Miranda Bunker, Jack Bunker, and Madison Bunker, Grandparents; Charlene Monroe and Jack and Betty Bunker. Aunts, Jennifer (Dale) Gould, and Julie Hober. Uncle, Paul Watson. Cousins Tanner and Connor Watson, and Lauren and Lucas Hober. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Carlton Laur, Jr.

I only knew Ethan through online interactions but I can say, unequivocally, that he was one of the most genuine and passionate people I know. His obituary sums up Ethan perfectly and I will never forget his lasting impression. Ethan inspired me to push myself and to hold better, more informed conversations every day.
You will be missed, may you rest in peace.
