Douglas D. McGee, age 74, passed away peacefully at home on December 30, 2025, after courageously fighting a very long illness. Doug’s life was defined by love for his family, a strong work ethic, and a joyful spirit that left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.
Douglas was born on July 2, 1951, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Dillard and Merle Mayes McGee. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Butte, Montana, where Doug would grow up and build a life filled with hard work, friendship, and deep roots.
On October 29, 1971, Doug married Sherry Perino Their marriage was one of devotion, partnership, and unwavering love. Together they raised three wonderful children Missy, Chad, and Stacey who were truly Doug’s whole world.
Doug attended Webster Garfield and Butte High School, later continuing his education at Montana Tech. From 1985 to 1996, Doug proudly co-owned Spuds McGee with his brothers, a chapter of his life filled with hard work and cherished memories. He later returned to the electrical field, working with various companies, including West Electric in Dillon, until his retirement in 2020. Doug lived in various locations throughout his life, always making friends and leaving a positive impression wherever he went.
Doug found his greatest joy in spending time with family. He especially loved watching Chad play hockey, as well as fishing, camping, bowling, and enjoying music and dancing. His laughter, stories, and warm presence will be deeply missed.
