On the morning of July 4th 2024, Dennis James Ossello passed away at the Community Hospital of Anaconda in Anaconda, MT, after a nearly 3-year fight with cancer. He was surrounded by family. Dennis was 75 years old.
Dennis Ossello was born in Butte MT (Meaderville) on July 9th, 1948. He was the son of Albert Adolph Ossello and Kathleen Julia Ossello (Hillen).
Dennis’s early childhood was spent growing up in the Meaderville area of Butte. His father Adolph and Uncle Dan Hillen taught him the joy of hunting and fishing. Stories of these hunting and fishing trips are a part of family legend. Baseball and basketball were also an integral part of his childhood.
Dennis graduated from Butte High School where he met his wife of 55 years Brenda Ossello (Grych). Brenda wasn’t overly impressed in the beginning, but he eventually won her over. Their incredible story has now grown into two sons and their spouses, seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Dennis spent his early working years at the Columbia Gardens maintaining and managing the rollercoaster, biplanes and merry-go-round as well as helping his mom run the candy and popcorn stand. He ended his working career after 22 years as HRC-Weatherization-Energy Division Manager.
Upon retiring Dennis and Brenda built their dream home in the Big Hole Valley where their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren come to spend summers.
Dennis enjoyed leading the family on caravan UTV/ATV rides, taking his grandchildren fishing, and being the family and community handyman. Dennis loved his time with Brenda and his dog Rex, taking rides through the mountains and around area lakes.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Adolph Ossello and Kathleen Ossello as well as brother Albert Ossello.
Dennis is survived by wife Brenda Ossello; children John and Kristie Ossello, Chris and Sue Ossello; grandchildren – Bailey and JC Edgar, Kiley and Luke Johnson, Tyler Ossello, Brianna Ossello, Jack Ossello, Sean Ossello, and Aiden Ossello; great grandchildren – Jack Clyde and Kathleen Marie Edgar, and Jett Axel Johnson; sister-in-law Judy Ossello (California).
The Ossello family would like to give a special shout out to the Doctors, RNs, CNAs, Housekeeping, Kitchen and anyone we missed from the Community Hospital of Anaconda that were part of Dennis’s care over the last 3 years. This hospital is a special place full of incredible and dedicated people.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Dennis are suggested to the Community Hospital of Anaconda (communityhospitalofanaconda.org) – Oncology Department.
