In Memory Of

Delores Mae Forsman, 88, of Dillon and Anaconda

February 10, 1937 – December 19, 2025

On February 10, 1937, a beautiful baby girl came into this world.  Her name was Delores Mae Kovacich, and she was the daughter of Robert and Mary Kovacich of Anaconda, Montana. As a young girl, Delores was best friends with Marilyn, Jean, and Pearl.  The four of them could tell us some hilarious stories about growing up in Anaconda.  They traveled together and remained lifelong friends. Her younger brother, Bob, was the light of her life until his passing a few years ago.

Delores met a young man named Harold Forsman during her high school years.  He asked her if she needed a ride home one day when he saw her walking home from school.  Of course, she accepted and the rest was history.  They graduated high school in 1955 and were married on June 16, 1956, in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church.  To that union came their daughter, Peggy.  A few years later they were blessed with their son, John.  The family moved to Dillon, Montana in 1963 where Harold was stationed with the Montana Highway Patrol.  Delores was a stay-at-home mom raising the two kids, cooking the absolute best meals and keeping the house neat and tidy at all times, while instilling the highest moral values in her kids.  Delores went to work at the State Bank when her children were older.  After working there several years, she accepted a position with Vigilante Electric Co-op, working there until her retirement.  She was a true ceramic artist and enjoyed Monday nights with her friends creating beautiful pieces which she shared with everyone she knew.   Delores was also a seamstress.  Not only did she sew many of Peggy’s clothes, she sewed the most adorable clothing for her three beautiful granddaughters when they were young.  Decorating cakes for friends and family was also something Delores enjoyed.  She appreciated having time to read – especially Danielle Steele and Nicholas Sparks. Knitting and crocheting were her passions.   Known by her family as the “silent philanthropist,” Delores often paid bills for people having difficulties, made dinners for those in car accidents who didn’t want to leave their vehicles, took in children from out of town whose parents were hospitalized due to an accident, and any other things that were needed in the Dillon area.  She wanted no recognition and did these things out of the goodness of her heart.  Her closest friends in Dillon were Cindy Doering, Sandy Prophet, Linda Meine, and Millie Brown (deceased) amongst many others who continued to look out for her until her final days. She was also close to her nieces and nephews in Montana, Utah, Alaska, Washington, and Florida.

Delores passed away on December 19, 2026, at the Crest Nursing Home in Butte.

Delores was predeceased by her parents, husband Harold, her brother Bob, two sisters in law and one brother in law.  Survivors include daughter Peggy (Mark) Hall of Belgrade, son John (Pam) Forsman of Helena, granddaughters Nicole Yost of Montana, Meagan Forsman Henderson (Daniel, Ben, and David) of Arizona, and Kelsi Yost Nebiye (Kesewante) of Virginia, her family in Florida – Cheryl, Anna, Amanda (Doug) and family, and Tim, and her numerous cousins, nieces and nephews from Montana and other areas of the country.  She remained close to her brother in law and spouse, Clarence and Sharon Forsman of Anaconda, and Chris Forsman of Butte.  She loved her family dearly and will be missed by many.

A graveside service will be held at New Hill Cemetery in Anaconda, Montana, on Monday, July 6, 2026.  Services will be conducted by family and Axelson Funeral Home of Butte, MT.  A reception will follow at Longfellow Funeral Home in Anaconda following the service.

If desired, memorials may be sent to Montana Hope Project, Barrett Memorial Hospital, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Axelson Funeral & Cremations is privileged to care for Delores and her family.

What a beautiful obituary! If we all lived our lives like Deloris, the world would be a kinder place. Makes me want to be a better person. I did not know her, but know granddaughter Nicole who lives her life much like grandma! God bless her memory
