Carol Kay Woods, age 72, unfortunately passed away suddenly on Friday, February 10th. She was born in Anaconda but raised in Butte by her mother and father, Harry and Margaret (Corcoran) Woods.
After graduating from Butte High School, she became an LPN and worked in the nursing field for many years. After a career ending injury, she attended Montana Tech and received her BA in Computer Sciences. She took a position at Butte 4’C where she worked until she retired.
Carol loved spending time with her large family, camping, fishing, and playing cards. She also enjoyed teaching her granddaughter baking and gardening.
Carol is proceeded in death by her father and mother, Harry and Margaret Woods; brother Robert Woods; sisters Peggy Varner and Candace Rymniak; and nephew Shane Woods.
Leaving behind her two daughters, Kristine and Heather Woods, and Janessa Woods, her only granddaughter; sisters Betty (late Woody) Slagle (Jim Hopper), Karen (late Russell) Niland (Ralph Sanchelli), Janet (late Manuel) Madrid and Terri (Dee-o) Whitehead; sister in-law Janice Woods; brother in-law Richard Varner, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. And not to forget her loyal sidekicks Theo, Charlie, and Ruger.
And a special thanks from the family to her lifelong friends Robin, Tracy, Linda, and Elaine.
The family will be holding a celebration of life this summer where Carol wanted her family and friends to gather at her favorite lake side and remember her and all the good times.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s or The Lady of Rockies which were her favorite charities.

Carol was one of the best nurses I worked with at the nursing home, the patients adored her and she could make them smile.
She helped me through some difficult moments in my life. Our work friends had a lot of fun together.
I was so proud of her when she completed her BA degree!
She was the best to Arin and myself.
I will miss her deeply.
Thoughts and prayers and love to you all.

So sorry to hear of Carol’s passing. She was a wonderful person. Carol and I were best friends in the late 60’s and early 70’s moving from Butte to San Francisco, CA and as life changes we went different directions. Carol back to Butte and I to Mobile, Ala. Though we have not seen Carol for many years, we remember her humor, kindness and friendship. Wishing Carol’s family the best during this difficult time.
