Betty (Elizabeth) Gail Cooper Herrly, loving wife and mother, passed away May 4, 2024 after battling cancer. Betty was born December 30, 1940 to Ira and Mildred Cooper in Oceanside, California. Her parents eventually moved to Butte due to Ira’s employment with the railroad. Here she met her one and only love, Kenneth Charles Herrly. They married on July 24, 1959 and would welcome three children, Jim, Pam and Diana. Ken and Betty were together until her passing, which was just a few months shy of what would have been their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary.
Betty worked various places but mostly enjoyed staying at home and raising her three great kids (her words)! She was very crafty and loved cross stitching, crocheting, reading and traveling. Everyone loved her homemade bread and pumpkin pie! She also loved playing card games with us, along with Yahtzee marathons! She took great pride in her home and landscaped the yard with finesse.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Mildred, sisters Wilma and Virginia, along with several aunts and uncles. She is survived by husband Ken, her son James (Sondra), daughters Pamela (Art), and Diana (Sally), as well as wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her passing has left a great void in all of our hearts but we know she is finally at peace and has been reunited with those she already lost.
Cremation has taken place. Please feel free to leave your favorite memory of mom below!
ON ANGEL’S WINGS
On angel’s wings, you were carried To the heavens in the sky,
So there will be no more pain Or tears left for you to cry.
You will be reunited with your loved ones Who have passed over the years,
And for those of us left behind, you may be gone But in our hearts, you will always remain near.
This is not a forever goodbye
For we know we will see you again one day.
The angels will lead us to you, Because love always finds a way.
Axelson Funeral and Cremation Services has been privileged to care for Betty and her family.

Uncle Ken, Pam, Jimmy & Diana and families, Our hearts, love and prayers go out to all of you. Our hearts are broken but at the same time filled with such wonderful memories of our 4th get together. All filled with great food, fun and games!! It always made me happy to see Aunt Betty be one of us kids when we played games. She was the pillar of the family and will be missed dearly but remembered so fondly and with live and smiles. We love you all so much.

Betty was a godsend to us when we moved in on Lewisohn Street and became next door neighbors. She was the best babysitter and was instrumental in Andy and Shannons lives. A great friend and neighbor as was Ken. So very sorry to hear of her passing and and any suffering she may have endured. God Bless you Betty and condolences to Ken and all her kids and grandchildren. Love from Chris and Neil and Andy and Shannon. Sorry for our crazy 3rd of July parties and all the people.

Uncle Kenny, Jim,Pam and Diana and your families. We are truly saddened with the passing of aunt Betty. She holds a very special place in the hearts of our family. We will always remember the fun family gatherings and what a great hostess she was. The times I was able to talk with her just before the passing of my mom she always knew what to say. She had such a loving heart. For that I am truly grateful. She will be greatly missed. Your family is in our hearts and prayers.
