Bertrand “Bert” Harry Stromseth gained his wings on the morning of January 9, 2023, after a hard fight with a short illness. Bert was born to Melvin and Helen Stromseth on June 11, 1942 in Butte where he remained his whole life.
Bert attended Webster Elementary and Butte High School and worked for Safeway, and shortly after was drafted by the United States Army and proudly served in the artillery unit in Germany from 1965-1967. After returning home, he became an Ore Truck driver in the Berkeley Pit where he remained until 1982. After that he worked for the Chevy lots in Butte until his retirement.
Bert became a father in 1973 to his daughter Shaundel. He met and married his soulmate Thelma “Rusty” Stromseth on September 19, 1984 where they remained inseparable until her passing in 2020. Bert was overjoyed with becoming a grandpa in 1990 to his first grandson Anthony and in 1991to his first granddaughter Ashleigh. The joy was beyond words for him when
he became a great grandpa to “his 5 babies” beginning in 2009 all the way through 2020. He was very close to his sister Leona and brother Fred. inseparable siblings. His family was his whole world, and he would do anything for them. He enjoyed camping, fishing, driving fast cars, riding motorcycles, repairing and rebuilding cars and junking. He would tear anything apart that he could get his hands on just to see how it worked and then put it back together. He was a very gentle man who loved fiercely, worked hard and always put his family first until his last day. He was our rock.
Bert was preceded in death by his wife Thelma Stromseth; mother Helen Stromseth; father Melvin Stromseth; brother-in-law Leroy Knight; nephew Neil Ouellette and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Uncle Bert, you will be extremely missed. I will always cherish my memories of you along with the stories and jokes you told, you teasing me about anything and everything, and how you were always there whenever I or someone else needed you. The world is a better place because you were a part of it and I’m thankful to have had you for an uncle.
