Barbara Jeanette (Mortenson Mitchell) Krum, age 92, passed away on December 28th, 2024, in Butte, Montana. She was born on November 23rd, 1932, in Laurel, Montana, to William Charles and Lois May (Mullennox) Mitchell. She grew up on the Stillwater.
Barbara married Oscar Norman Krum on February 5th, 1949, in Butte. They enjoyed over 30 years of marriage before Oscar’s passing on May 2nd, 1983. A devoted homemaker, Barbara took pride in caring for her family. She also spent 26 years serving at the Husky House and Georgetown Lake as a dishwasher and waitress, and worked for 20 years at the 7 Gables.
Barbara loved spending time with her grandchildren and had a passion for providing exceptional service to her customers. She had a love of earrings, Green Bay Packers vs. Seahawks games, and birds. A talented cook, her salads were especially beloved, even by Governor Schweitzer. Barbara was an active member of the Trinity Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Rusty Krum and Oscar Krum; her daughter, Marsha Freeman; and her grandson, Patrick O’Connor.
Barbara is survived by her children, Kenny Krum of Butte, George (Naomi) Krum of Seattle and Butte, Jean (Pat) Rogan of Craig, Alaska, Lena (Dick) Schwartzmiller of Butte, and Lois Cherne of Butte; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by special friends Pat Mitchell and Jackie Lester.
Barbara’s memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Barb was my mom and then my brothers neighbor for years on walnut street. We used to see her also at Georgetown and working at the bar waiting tables. What a sweet lady. I know my brother really enjoyed visiting with her and her dogs. My condolences go out to all of her family. She will be missed.
