In Memory Of

Barbara Ann Syrros, Age 86, of Butte

May 25, 1939 – December 22, 2025

Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother Barbara Syrros passed away surrounded by loved ones and people who cared about her deeply on Monday morning, December 22, 2025 at The Springs of Butte.  She was born on May 25, 1939 in Deer Lodge, Montana to Elizabeth and Max Moore.  She grew up in Deer Lodge and married Charles (Chuck) Hansen and together they had four children: Rick, Laurie, Julie and Tom.  They later divorced and she remarried the love of her life William (Bill) Syrros and together they had one child, Kristi completing their family.

Mom was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend to those she knew.  She loved spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking goodies for her family and friends, especially at Christmas time.  She loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, cheering them on with pride.  She also loved to sew and crochet blankets and would generously gift one to anyone in need.  She worked various jobs using her accounting skills in her younger years before going to work for the correctional system in Deer Lodge prior to moving to Santa Fe then Albuquerque, New Mexico with her family, where she retired as head of payroll for the State of New Mexico correctional system.

Mom was preceded in death by her loving husband Bill, her mother and father Elizabeth and Max, and sisters Maxine Fiske and Ruth Hunt, and grandson Petie Klein.

Mom will be deeply missed by her children Rick (Cindy) Hansen, Laurie (Ken) Johnson, Julie (Roger Schroeder) Hansen, Tom (Ken Roberts) Hansen, and Kristi (Charlie) Neilson.  Grandchildren Derek and Troy (Lucy) Hansen, and Randee (Steve) Spangler, Trent (Caitlin) Horswill, and Danielle (Elias) Klein, Cody Klein, and Kadence (Derek) Neilson, Cole and Chance Neilson, and Alaina Hansen, Lynette (Cody) Sanchez, Patrick Hansen, and bonus grandchildren Jori (Mike) Schrapps, Kelsi (Mike) Skinner, Whitney and Colton Johnson and 23 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law Karleen (Garry) Douglas.

Cremation has taken place and arrangements to be announced at a later date. Please visit axelsonfuneralhome.com to offer condolences to the family or to share a memory of Barbara.
