Antonius Franklin Reiss, aka Anthony Franklin Reiss, passed away from natural causes on or about March 11, 2024 in his home in Anaconda, Montana. “Tony” was born in Anaconda on February 23, 1943 to his parents Anthony and Christine Reiss, formerly Christine Flath.
After attending Anaconda High School, Tony enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1960, specializing as a motor vehicle operator while serving various assignments overseas and stateside. Tony was honorably discharged from active duty in 1964 as a Lance Corporal from his final duty station at MCAS El Toro, California.
Afterwards, Tony met and married his first wife Roseanne E. Moss, in Southern California. From this marriage Tony had two sons, Robert Eric (“Rick”) and David Anthony. Tony and his first wife later separated, and Tony then continued his life working as an engineering mechanic throughout Southern California supermarket and dairy processing facilities, as a member of the Operating Engineers Local Union 501.
During the 1970s, Tony met and married his second wife Dolores J. Trumble, and added to his family with Dolores’ two daughters Stacie and Tonya. With his wife, the two of them created and operated a small auto parts business called T&D Automotive in Southern California.
In the early 1980s, Tony and Dolores picked up their stakes from California and moved back to his hometown of Anaconda. Here Tony settled down and for a few years owned and operated another small business, a gas station and auto repair facility.
Despite his separation from his second wife later on, Tony continued living in Anaconda and moved back and forth from Montana to California. In 2004, he permanently retired as an operating engineer in California and then he moved back permanently to his home in Anaconda.
He engaged in his passion of building, repairing, and tinkering with cars, his favored being Mopar cars … especially hot rods like classic Dodge Challengers, Plymouth Furies, and an assortment of other Dodge cars, trucks and even a custom built 1923 roadster.
In addition, Tony enjoyed hunting, target shooting, socializing, and collecting memorabilia.
Tony was also actively involved with a number of military Veterans groups and charitable organizations.
Tony is survived by his sons Robert, David, step-daughter Stacie, sister Evelyn White of Spokane, Washington, and numerous extended relatives and friends.

A celebration of his life with military honors will be held at 11am on Thursday, March 28th at the American Legion Post 21, 220 Cedar St., Anaconda, MT 59711.
